Small Groups

The UGC has a long history of encouraging small quartet and group singing. There are several standing small groups, and the UGC also hosts a highly competitive annual quartet contest--the Hambone Cup, which quartets have vied for for over 70 years.

The Crickets
The Crickets, a group of business and professional men, share a love of singing and have made music an integral part of their lives. Their repertoire includes madrigals, Broadway show tunes, spirituals, sea chanteys, popular music, and college songs.
The Metrognomes
The MetroGnomes, for years one of the standing UGC small groups, has reconstituted with some fresh faces and some new sounds, as well as old favorites.
The Ten
The eighteen men who make up The Ten have their roots in the one hundred twenty-five voice University Glee Club of New York City (UGC) which was founded over one hundred years ago to preserve the tradition of male glee club singing. Together, members of The Ten have been members of the UGC for a total of more than four hundred years!
